For years, we’ve been conditioned to treat facials as a non-negotiable part of our beauty and wellness routines. Yet the scalp — the living ecosystem from which every strand of hair emerges — is often overlooked. As a herbalist and naturopath, I have long believed that scalp care deserves the same consistency and reverence as skincare. Today, science confirms it.


Research shows that many common hair concerns originate at the scalp, not the hair shaft. According to the International Journal of Trichology, more than 75% of people experience scalp conditions such as dandruff, dryness or sensitivity at some point in their lives — all of which can directly affect hair thickness, shine and growth. Another study published in Skin Appendage Disorders links poor scalp circulation to weakened follicles and accelerated thinning.
